Course objective

A professional preparation course for those students wishing to engage in the collaboration with institutional partners to specifically deal with disadvantaged neighborhoods residents.

The structure and project executive working in the field of recreation administration and city policies will:

  • Conceive, implement and assess educational projects promoting vocational, professional and social education  and the restoration of social links.
  • Be part of complex institutional partnership networks (State, local government agencies, associations and residents).
  • Manage (administration, regulation, finances, human resources) and promote the action of a public or private structure.
  • Help define the political orientations of the structure and evaluate its action plans.

Starting from an identified experiment on a target group, the student  will:

  • Develop  a “strategic intelligence of social predicaments”.
  • Understand  the partners and get involved in their policy-making.
  • Re-dynamize team work, get the public and social workers involved.
  • Formalize values, stakes and professional situations.

 

Who may apply?

This university degree is open to incoming undergraduates or recreation administration professionals  with little or insufficient theoretical training.

Prospects for the student

This professional degree was constructed with a group of academics and professionals from either the associative private sector or the public sector (local government). They come from:

  • Recreation administration (CPNEF, UFOLEP, Francas).
  • Social networking for medical professions ("fédération départementale des centres sociaux", URIOPSS).
  • Vocational, educational, social education (CID, youth job centers).
  • The sporting and cultural field (Culture du Coeur, Réseau Prévention Sport).

Names may vary but they always refer to recreation administrative (possibly senior) executives in the public or private sector:

  • Director (acting director, assistant director, project manager, head of department), in an association (social center, youth cultural center, Service Jeunesse de la Sauvegarde…).
  • Area manager (community home, youth center, library, local government).
  • Federal executive manager (local regional delegate, operations manager…).
  • Social development executive  (city or district operations manager, municipal delegate in charge of delinquency prevention…).
  • Youth out-of-prison rehabilitation program executive.
  • Recreation administrator in the social and medical networking sector.
  • Career adviser or operation manager in a youth job center.
  • Educational adviser in a federation or a training company.

One must bear in mind the fact that access to, and success in these jobs will largely depend on one's maturity and previous job experience ( internships not included).

The level and contents of this degree are, more often than not, a key to success in competitive exams for government careers.

Admissions

Students are expected to respect the following rules:

  • Application forms are available at the admissions office as early as February.
  • They must be returned to the office (Mrs. SOUDEE) at the latest on June 19th (office 102).
  • The application form must contains a resume (with supporting documents), a covering letter stating the candidate's professional project, together with a detailed list of past jobs (assessing your action, personal involvement, and acquired skills)
  • Selection by the jury (academics and professionals) is based on recreation administration diplomas, professional experience, personal involvement with associations  (environmental, social, educational).. on the applicant's knowledge of sporting and artistic activities and on motivation, and work in urban development.
  • Working continuing education applicants will be interviewed.
