STAPS (Sciences and Techniques of the Physical and Sporting Activities) belong to the most attractive disciplines of the French University landscape. A high level research, all education levels - Bachelor's degrees, Master, Phd - adapted to realities of employment possibilities in attractive and varied spheres of activities:
* Professions of education and research (high school physical education and sports teaching, primary schools and universities teaching,…);
* Professions related to health and well-being (fitness, aging, obesity, handicap…);
* Professions in animation, tourism and leisure sports (associations, leisure centers, sports and leisure activities…);
* Communication professions and sports marketing (communication managers: Federations, sporting companies, marketing manager).
 
Thanks to a proactive strategy, the STAPS display today one of the best rate of professional insertion of the French University: 85% of the graduates, at least holding a license, find within 6 months stable employment corresponding of their level of studies. STAPS at Paris-Sud 11
 
Located in the Orsay campus in green surroundings and a wooded area, the UFR STAPS is the youngest UFR of the University of Paris Sud 11. A division STAPS was created in 1985, and integrated to the Faculty of Science on the Orsay campus. On June 18th, 2003, the Board of Directors of the University adopted the transformation of the division STAPS into a Faculty.
 
Joining STAPS in University of Paris-Sud is taking advantage of an exceptional research and training context, with 3 research teams empowered, 4 different general bachelor's degrees and 2 applied bachelor's degrees, 6 Masters specialities for some in co-empowerment with Universities of Paris 5 and Paris 10, others with the Faculty of Medicine or the Faculty of Law, Management and Economics of University of Paris 11, and one of the two Staps PhD Schools in France.
 
The UFR STAPS welcomes every year a thousand students and more than 200 teachers (80 tenured professors and about 150 non-tenured teachers). The SUAPS, University Service of Physical Activities and Sporting Activities, integrated to the UFR STAPS, proposes to all the students of the University of Paris Sud 11 a qualifying formation (UE Sport) as well as a personal training (leisure, competitions, training and sporting events) by the practice of more than 40 different activities.
