While there are clear effects of exercise on brain activity measured subsequent to the bout of physical activity, it is also important to elucidate the nature of the changes that occur in the brain during exercise, because these changes may be linked to sensorimotor performance. Also, characterization of the cortical contribution to motor control in humans is important for a better understanding of fatigue or recovery of the sensorimotor deficits after an injury to the central nervous system. This talk will address (i) how brain activation patterns change in response to various levels of exercise intensity and (ii) in what extent we can modulate brain-behavior relationships in humans.
